Speaker: Kevin White, Chernobyl Children's Project UK

On April 26th 1986 the nuclear power station at Chernobyl in Belarus suffered a disastrous melt-down. Many people in the area died at once and many more suffered from the wide-spread scattering of radioactive material and the long-term effects of radiation. Kevin and friends in the Crosby area have been brining children from the disaster area to Merseyside for holidays and medical care for many years. He has also driven with medical and practical supplies on many occasion to Belarus. Come and hear about their plans for this year's visit and the progress of the many children they have enjoyed playing host to over the years.

Speaker: Janet Davies, Friends of Sabeel.

janet is a member of 'Friends of Sabeel', a Christian Palestine Group working in Liverpool for a peaceful solution to the Israel/ Palestine conflict. She will have just returned from a visit to Israel where she will be among a group of friends welcoming Mordechai Vanunu out of prison after 18 years inside, most of them spent in solitary confinement. Mordechai was kidnapped by the Israeli Government in 1985 in Rome and tried in secret in Israel for revealing Israel's nuclear weapons' programme which he had discovered while working as a technician at the Dimona nuclear plant which he had entered believing to be a wholly civil nuclear facility.

IF RAIN THREATENS, PLEASE BRING AN UMBRELLA!
